In this series, Hoffer recreates his original Sunset Sound mix entirely in the box, revealing how balance, saturation, unlikely inspiration, and intentional lo-fi texture define the bandÆs signature sound.

Originally created after the band arrived in LA with fully-formed ideas from Versailles, the track blends live drums with sampled elements and lo-fi textures. Chopped acoustic guitars treated like samples and vocal tones reshaped into synths add to the songÆs unique sonic character. Starting from a blank session, Hoffer rebuilds the mix by shaping the stereo bus first, then balancing drums, bass, and guitars into a tight, cohesive vibe thatÆs equal parts dance and rock.

Rather than heavy processing, the sound comes from intentional color decisions by Hoffer. Light saturation, bit reduction, stereo widening, and subtle compression across multiple buses give the song its identity.
